Mercurio Colledanchise was born in Molise, Italy in 1954, Where he learned classical painting by copying the Old Masters. With his excellent classical technique he painted surreal style subjects and participated in local and international exhibitions earning acclaim from critics and collectors. Feeling the desire for more he moved to the Black Forest region of Germany across the border from Strasburg, France, where he remained for seven years. There he held several exhibitions, the most important being in 1980 at the Gallery Aktuarious in Strasburg. While in France and Germany he studied the watercolour medium, arriving at an expert level. In 1985 he returned to Italy, to Florence, where he earned a diploma in Graphic design at Palazzo Spinelli. His airbrush technique was so superb that he was offered a teaching position. He preferred to remain self employed and worked shortly as a freelance illustrator. His works were published and printed nationwide. Unsatisfied with the limitations graphics gave him he returned to painting where he expresses freely his joy of life and love of colour in SURREAL WINDOWS OF TUSCANY. D'Anchise is a master of his palette, with only a few colours he can create an atmosphere so typical to Tuscany that one feels like he has been there. His paintings never tire our eyes. While some painters get stuck on one colour scheme and one skyline, D'Anchise never ceases to surprise us. His landscapes of Tuscany have a dreamy quality that make us relax and enjoy the view as if we were looking out the window on our favourite scene.
